Diana
A mother battling bipolar disorder with delusional episodes. Charming, sharp, and deeply empathetic, yet haunted by past trauma. Diana’s relationships with her family unravel as she strives to regain a sense of normalcy in a life that feels anything but.
Stage age: 40s. Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano with strong belt, G3–F#5

Natalie
Diana and Dan’s overachieving teenage daughter. Intelligent, musically gifted, and ambitious, but feels invisible in her own family. Natalie struggles with resentment toward her mother’s illness and her father’s preoccupation while hesitating to trust Henry’s genuine affection. Her journey is about finding her identity in a chaotic household.
Stage age: 16–17. Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano with strong belt, G3–G5

Dan
Diana’s husband and the family’s steady presence. Compassionate, devoted, and determined to hold the household together, but emotionally exhausted. Beneath his steadfast exterior lies a man grappling with unspoken grief and the weight of responsibility. Dan’s loyalty is both his strength and his burden.
Stage age: 40s. Vocal range: Baritone/tenor, Ab2–G4 (falsetto to Db5)

Gabe
Diana and Dan’s son, vibrant and magnetic. Gabe represents Diana’s idealized vision of him, a memory frozen in time, yet his presence is deeply tied to the family’s pain. Equal parts charming and unsettling, he is central to Diana’s delusions and a constant reminder of their shared loss.
Stage age: 17–19. Vocal range: Tenor, B2–C5 (falsetto to D5)

Henry
Natalie’s boyfriend, easygoing yet perceptive. A laid-back musician with a kind heart, Henry offers Natalie understanding and acceptance. He’s a steadying presence in her tumultuous world, even as he navigates the complexities of her family dynamic.
Stage age: 17–18. Vocal range: Tenor, A2–A4 (falsetto to C5)

Dr. Madden / Dr. Fine
Dr. Fine is Diana’s pragmatic and clinical psychopharmacologist. Dr. Madden is her bold, insightful psychiatrist, embodying a rock-star persona in Diana’s delusions. Both roles require a commanding presence and the ability to shift between professionalism and theatricality.
Stage age: 30s–40s. Vocal range: A2–A4
